Folders

Where did I save that? Right click on the title of a document tells you where you just saved it.

Airdrop- easy way for students to send you documents (OS it works with??-- need to check that)

Desktop
  • RIGHT click to show options to change desktop views, background and more

Screen Shots- hold down: SHIFT COMMAND 4 (will let you highlight the area on your screen to take a screenshot.

System Preferences: Text to Speech and Trackpad settings

Have the computer read the highlighted text to you-- System Preferences>Dictation and Speech on Mt Lion, in other operating systems it may be under Universal Access>Speech.


Chrome Browser
  • Clearly-- gives you article/website without extra ads - easy to print or send to Evernote
  • Settings: Add home button, Show Bookmark toolbar

Safari
Safari is your default browser- if you prefer Firefox or Safari-- then go to Safari>Preferences>Default Browser (choose here)
  • READER (bult into Safari on all devices) -- like Clearly in Firefox or Chrome
  • Bookmark toolbar


Firefox
  • CLEARLY- gives you article/website without extra ads - easy to print or send to Evernote
  • Bookmark toolbar

Troubleshooting browsers- if one browser isn't working- switch to another browser. Chrome is what works best with Google
